No, I don't mean relationships -- I mean actual ships.

In the Discord server yesterday, people had a discussion about the names of the First Order's Resurgent-class star destroyers. We have some canonical names, but not enough to make up the number of star destroyers the FO had.

From the wiki, we find the following names:

  • Absolution

  • Conqueror

  • Finalizer

  • Harbinger

  • Incinerator

  • Retribution

  • Silencer

  • Steadfast

  • Subjugator

  • Thunderer

not-so-allegiant-general on Tumblr recently posted a fic there in which Hux calms himself down by reciting the names in his mind, in alphabetical order.

Their list had a name that I can't find in the wiki: Fellfire. Great name! Did not-so-allegiant-general make it up, I wonder?

Yet, per Wookiepedia, "The Resistance during that time knew that at least 30 Resurgent-class Star Destroyers were present among the First Order forces,[18] but 20 of them were destroyed in Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo's ramming attack.[20]" And later, "At least 17 Resurgent-class Star Destroyers, including the Finalizer, were present at the planet Tah'Nuhna along with one Mandator IV-class Siege Dreadnought during the First Order's destruction of the planet.[9]"

All of which means -- with only 10 or 11 known names for these ships, we don't have nearly enough!

I'd like to humbly suggest a few more additions to the roster:

  • Alacrity

  • Amplitude

  • Capability

  • Celerity

  • Durance

  • Eminence

  • Expeditor

  • Firefight

  • Immensity

  • Impervious

  • Impetus

  • Man-o-War

  • Momentous

  • Nebula

  • Pinnacle

  • Potence

  • Preeminence

  • Prowess

  • Readiness

  • Reliance

  • Salamander

  • Sublimity

  • Tempest

  • Transcendence

  • Thundersnow

  • Vehemence

  • Vitality

  • Whiplash

Note: Celerity is not a word that my phone recognizes, but it's a legit word that means quickness.

Note: Durance means imprisonment, but it has an older meaning of "endurance" as well.

Each Star Destroyer supposedly held "a complement of 19,000 officers and 55,000 enlisted personnel." That's 74k people each.

If Holdo destroyed 20 ships, that's about 1,480,000 people dead.

When Poe blew up Ilum, the resulting collapse of the planet killed anywhere between 500,000 and 2 million people.
