I never blogged about all the things I contributed to Gingerpilot Week in November of 2024. Let's fix that now!

The theme for this event centered around semiprecious stones and their meanings. To wit:

Sunday Nov. 10: Sodalite. Communication, Expression, Truth.
Title: Flattery Will Get You Nowhere
Author: ArtemisDart
Fandom: Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
Ship: Poe Dameron/Armitage Hux
Rating: Explicit
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Wordcount: 2,833

Summary: Poe is surprised when Hux asks for what he actually wants in bed, but quickly pivots to deliver.

Whew, this one is pretty filthy... the filthiest one of the week. Let's start out strong, shall we? :)

I was surprised that in my vast reading through the Gingerpilot tag over the past almost 2 years, no one else had done Hux with a verbal humiliation kink. Can that be true???!

Monday Nov. 11: Aventurine. Prosperity, Well-Being, Luck.
Title: Lucky Kiss
Author: ArtemisDart
Fandom: Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
Ship: Poe Dameron/Armitage Hux
Rating: Gen
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Wordcount: 1,000

Summary: Instead of letting Finn blast General Hux during their daring getaway, Poe Dameron gives him something a little more personal to remember him by.

I was similarly stunned that no one seemed to have written this exact scene already. Am I taking crazy pills?

Tuesday Nov. 12: Serpentine. Hidden Mysteries, Observation, Instinct.
Title: Adventures in Filing Systems
Author: ArtemisDart
Fandom: Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
Ship: Poe Dameron/Armitage Hux
Rating: Gen
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Wordcount: 5,206

Summary: Armitage Hux is a model worker at the Engineering Department on Ajan Kloss — except for the part where he created a filing system so elaborate that no one else can use it.

Can Poe figure out what's going on?

For this one, I had great fun trying to design an organizational system that would both be superior in efficiency, and also allow Hux to hoard all the knowledge of said system to himself.

Wednesday Nov. 13: Dalmation Stone. Loyalty, Family, Connect to Animals.
Title: The Cat's Meow
Author: ArtemisDart
Fandom: Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
Ship: Poe Dameron/Armitage Hux
Rating: Gen
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Wordcount: 2,500

Summary: Poe wants his boyfriend Armitage Hux to adopt a puppy with him, but then Armitage finds something unexpected clinging to a fire escape.

It's always fun to write modern AU Gingerpilot and come up with jobs for these two. In this one, I have Hux as an architect who collects pre-1920s vintage scientific glass beakers and who does the New York Times crossword puzzle every Sunday -- in pen. I also had a backstory for Poe's job(s), although that didn't make it into the fic -- part time fitness instructor, part time scuba diving instructor. (Last winter he was also a ski instructor, but he's not going to do that again this winter because he doesn't want to leave Hux to go to Colorado for the season!)

Thursday Nov. 14: Lapis Lazuli. Psychic Vision, Celestial Energy, Nobility.
Title: Up Close and Personal
Author: ArtemisDart
Fandom: Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
Ship: Poe Dameron/Armitage Hux
Rating: Teen
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Wordcount: 12,213

Summary: When Armitage Hux gets invited to a fancy coronation ceremony, Poe Dameron feels kinda weird about it. Shouldn't Poe maybe go along with him, just to make sure no one assassinates him while he's 'catching up' with his 'old friend'? And who knew Hux looked so good in formal wear? But wait — why is Hugs friends with a real live prince?

Well anyway — Poe should definitely invite himself along, just in case.

This one ended up going a bit longer than the rest so far -- over 12K words across three chapters, all from Poe's POV. I had a good time coming up with reasons that Hux would be acquainted with a prince at a level friendly enough that he might be invited to a coronation ceremony.

Friday Nov. 15: Carnelian. Passion, Sexual Energy, Creativity.
Title: The Connection Room
Author: ArtemisDart
Fandom: Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
Ship: Poe Dameron/Armitage Hux
Rating: Explicit
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Wordcount: 13,140

Summary: Young Armitage Hux is assigned to visit the breeding facility yearly to leave a genetic sample to use in the First Order's nursery program, and he hates the idea intensely. But the handsome room attendant might be able to make him feel better.

This one is by far my favorite fic of the week, and is the longest one of the week. I had it 80% written when I woke up that very morning, the morning it was due with an idea about how I could structure it better, over four chapters, and then I couldn't get it all done that day -- but that's okay. The end result was worth the wait, in my opinion.

I reread this one often.

Saturday Nov. 16: Snowflake Obsidian. Spiritual Protection, Transmutation, Acceptance.
Title: The Importance of Moon Placement
Author: ArtemisDart
Fandom: Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
Ship: Poe Dameron/Armitage Hux
Rating: Teen
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Wordcount: 1,000

Summary: Poe helps reassure his boyfriend that his 'ruined' piece of art isn't really that bad, actually.

For this day, I almost held Termination Dust for a few days to use here, because Termination Dust is a kind of snow, and I have it snowing in the story. The story also deals with themes of acceptance, but in a very dark way. I decided that this wasn't the note I wanted to end GP week on, so I published Termination Dust separately and wrote something much nicer for Day 7.

I researched reverse glass painting for this fic, and I link to a YouTube video in the author notes to a video that helped inspire me!
