NaNo progress
Nov. 13th, 2023 09:22 pmI have switched my NaNo project from the huge, research-heavy historical romance novel to a fic for Gingerpilot Week, which is coming right up, November 19-26. It is easier for me to write copious amounts of words for a background I already know quite well -- modern America -- than it is to write copious amounts of words for a historical period I need to research heavily.
I'm 24,000 words in over 3 chapters that I really like. I have 4 more chapters plotted out. Ever the over-achiever, I have figured out a way to incorporate ALL SEVEN prompts into my seven chapters, on the correct day for each prompt. (okay it's not as impressive as it sounds. This year, each day of Gingerpilot Week offers us a choice between 4 prompts, so it was just a matter of choosing the most appropriate prompts for each of my 7 chapters.)
I'm so excited that I'll be able to post a chapter a day during the week, with thematically appropriate chapters, no less! It feels like the stars are really aligning on this one.
Of course, I still need to write 4 more chapters. Right during Thanksgiving, which I am hosting and making all the food for... 😅
So maybe I shouldn't congratulate myself too hard just yet.
