Live Wire Chapter 13
Mar. 23rd, 2026 08:11 pmI stayed up late writing Chapter 13 of Live Wire! Finally, with this chapter, the fic has earned the Explicit rating I gave it way back in July 2025 when I started it. (One could argue that Chapters 7 and 8 already contained some adult material -- and they did -- but I regard those chapters as rated Mature, haha.)
So far in this fic I've used three points of view in this order:
Chapters 1 & 2 - Mitaka
Chapter 3 - Techie
Chapters 4 & 5 - Mitaka
Chapter 6 - Techie
Chapter 7 - Hux
Chapters 8 & 9 - Mitaka
Chapter 10 - Techie
Chapters 11 & 12 - Mitaka
Chapter 13 - Techie
So that means next chapter will be Hux again!
I particularly enjoy the juxtaposition of Techie's point of view, which I'm trying to write in a different way from many of the other characters I often use, with Hux's point of view. Hux is so very good at fooling himself; his huge, overengineered brain and layers of complex trauma all conspire to mire him in traps of his own making. Techie is much more clear-eyed. He regards himself as simple, or even dumb -- which, of course, isn't true at all -- but it informs how he thinks about the situations he encounters. The fun part for me is that Techie and Hux are genetically identical. It's a fascinating challenge to write the same person -- genetically, at least -- in two completely different ways!
I have to say that Brendol Hux and the First Order dabbling around in cloning technology is the plot hook that keeps on giving. I can find a way to shoehorn any one of Domnhall Gleeson's characters into the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy universe... and perhaps I shall.
