Swapped out fic for FFFX

artemisdartI had notes, and research, and translations, and maps. I had a story arc, and a version that went scene by scene. I had factions, and character profiles, and motivations, and a family tree. I had a satisfying resolution all planned out.
But when it came down to it, I could not get any more than 1k in to my pinch hit for FFFX. Half a scene! I could only write half a scene.
The exchange has a 10k minimum threshold, as the name "Five Figure Fanwork Exchange" implies. And it's due soon. Really soon.
So yesterday morning I woke up with a new idea in mind. I don't need to research it. I can use parts of my real life in it. I started writing it this morning and I'm 5300 words in -- or about halfway.
This is going so much more easily than the first idea!
I still want to write the first idea... Maybe... Sometime... but it's not happening before the 7th.
