Things I Like in Stories

A plot of some kind

Angst with a Happy Ending. I am primarily an angst writer! I especially love internalized self-hatred that turns out to be unfounded; internalized homophobia is great for that, but there are many other flavors!

Drama: Negotiations, fights, chases, heists, puzzles, schemes, confrontations, etc.

Or no drama: Character studies, small moments of discovery and self reflection, falling in love (maybe despite not wanting to?)

Sexy stuff - first time, dubious consent, sex pollen, Bad Guys Made Them Do It, war prize, enslaved together, transactional sex turns tender, self discovery through kink, self esteem issues fueling sexual decisions

Dark & kinky - psychological explorations, trauma, people breaking down, people pushing each other to the brink and beyond

In general, I enjoy stories that match the tone of the canon. For instance, Ranma 1/2 is light and sexy and silly fun, so I'd hope to match or intensify that vibe. Whereas the Original Work 'fandom' has some pretty dark ships requested, so if you'd like to write one of those, I feel like the light & sexy vibe doesn't work anymore (for instance, for te ship "Former Convict/Mother of two running from the police after taking kids from abusive husband (OW)," don't make it silly and fluffy)

Mutual pining, yearning, unrequited crush that turns out to be requited after all

Inexperience - maybe someone isn't that experienced in sexual matters, and someone else is?

Sacrifice - maybe someone is in peril and someone else steps in at great personal risk?

Tending wounds leads to tenderness

Stranded together

For darker, dead dove stories -- which I do enjoy as long as they miss my squicks, listed below -- don't feel like you have to shoehorn in a happy ending. Sometimes ambiguous / bittersweet is as good as we can hope for.

Fandoms I Chose

Siren (TV 2018)
This was a tragedy, and it was a tragedy that it got cancelled, because I was very invested in the characters and their struggles. Ryn is fascinating. Her alien, dense body makes me so curious about what sex with her would be like. How does it work? Does she need to be in water? Does she get fishier if she gets turned on? Imagining some underwater blow jobs is making me unfurl my gills with interest, haha. I'd love to see something more from this fandom.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023)
Holga is such a salt-of-the-earth character, with her love of potatoes and her sinewy muscles. I'm fascinated by the thought of her with tiny, frail, dying-from-evil-magic necromancer Sofina. Can one of them convert the other to her way of life? Maybe Sofina has Holga at a disadvantage and decides to sexily torment her; maybe Sofina lost her magic (temporarily?) and Holga uses her superior strength to hold her down? Maybe 'things' ensue??

薬屋のひとりごと | Kusuriya no Hitorigoto | The Apothecary Diaries (Anime)
Loved the strong vibe between Loulan / Shisui, once she had revealed herself, and Maomao, who has always retained her position of superiority over everyone she's met -- until now. I really felt that Maomao respected Loulan's choices at that moment in a way I'd never seen her respect other people's. I wanted more between these two!

Naruto (Anime & Manga)
Can we all agree that Orochimaru is beyond gender? Call them 'F!Orochimaru' if you must, haha, but to me, their pronouns are Orochimaru/Orochimaru. And their bond with their test subjects, like Anko, has to run deep. Can Anko feel the curse mark on her skin? Does it call to her... late at night... when she's alone in her room? Does she have thoughts about it? mixed with guilt? Does Orochimaru take her back as easily as though they're picking up a discarded toy? How does Anko feel about that?

Jane Eyre - Charlotte Brontë
I was raised on a steady diet of Jane Eyre. The ship of Jane Eyre/Blanche Ingram never occurred to me until I saw it in this list today, but now I'm intrigued. Could Jane corner Blanche and demand more respect? Or maybe Blanche finally pushes her too far -- or maybe Blanche sees that she's been a total B.I.T.C.H. and regrets it? Perhaps Mr. Rochester, that asshole, drives them both away? Wouldn't it be fun if Jane and Blanche teamed up to take Mr. Rochester for all he was worth? Just saying.

Jiang Yanli/Wen Qing (MDZS - MTXT)
Here are two Wei Ying-adjacent women who would definitely have been good for each other. Yanli is so gentle and reserved and sweet, and I feel like she really needed someone who would encourage her to have a backbone and take charge of her own life rather than waiting around for that Jin heir to get his shit together. Meanwhile, Wen Qing has such a sense of guilt and responsibility. Wouldn't her life be better if she had a gentle wife at home to make her some soup??

Qín Sù/Wēn Qíng (The Untamed)
Qin Su desperately needed to be saved. Wen Qing has a sense of justice. The end.

Luo "Mian Mian" Qingyang/Wen Qing (The Untamed)
I can see these two clashing in a dramatic sword battle! Maybe they could get distracted by how sweaty the other one is getting, lol. In all seriousness, I think both of these women have high ideals and will not compromise on their personal goals. If they're at odds, everyone else had better watch out -- but if they can find a way to harmonize, I think they would be formidable indeed!

Original Work
I chose ships that sounded interesting to me because of the built-in clashes or differences in characters. I enjoy rescue stories, stories about loyalty and being tried by fire, happy reunions, angsty reunions, kink, happy endings, poly situations -- I have wide-ranging tastes, so write whatever inspires you!

Ranma 1/2
Girl-Ranma and Shampoo was never seriously explored that I remember, because Shampoo was always so focused on marrying boy-Ranma. Girl-Ranma and Akane had much more history! I'd be fascinated to see Shampoo needing to come to terms with having feelings for the female version of Ranma as well, or perhaps more than (!?), the boy version.

Avatar: The Last Airbender (Cartoon 2005)
Toph Beifong/Ty Lee (Avatar) is a pairing that I've never thought of before I saw it in the tagset. I don't have a lot of firm ideas about it, except to wonder how Ty Lee, who spends so much time in the air, could spark off Toph, who spends all her time with her feet on the ground. Maybe they're both in peril and need to save each other? Honestly, this could go so many ways.

RWBY
Penny Polendina/Winter Schnee (RWBY) had so much obvious rivalry over the blessing and curse of becoming the Winter Maiden. I'd be fascinated to see something happening between them, as well as exploring what Penny's android-like nature means when it comes to physical intimacies.
