I had two fics of mine revealed in two exchanges, and I received two gifts! I'm over the moon about all of the above. Gosh, I love reveal day!
Since my fics are still anonymous, I can't talk about them yet. But I can discuss the fics I received!
From the 22-year-old huge juggernaut that is the Yuletide exchange, I received a fic in the fandom "The King's Avatar," the live-action TV show about teams of young Chinese men battling each other in a team video game. My husband and I watched the show years ago -- maybe five? -- and we were surprisingly drawn in and endlessly amused by the humor and pathos and drama of the setup. Unfortunately, I barely remembered who anyone was, but as I read through the fic, I gleaned enough that I could slot this fic into my memories of the show.
The author is probably Chinese, or at least knows Chinese, in my opinion. There's a bunch of dialogue that sounds as though it's been translated from Chinese, anyway -- or maybe I'm just reading into it! I really like that, though. To me, that gives the flavor of the setting!
My second gift is much longer, and in a fandom that I'm much more intimately familiar with -- my beloved Gingerpilot ship (Poe Dameron/Armitage Hux), but with a twist -- established Hitaka (Armitage Hux/Dopheld Mitaka). Oh myyyyy! I love poly ships and group sex, and this fic delivers on this and multiple other levels.
I am 90%+ sure I know who wrote this fic for me. Her style is unmistakable. :) I tried to read this fic slowly, taking a break about halfway through, but it sucked me back in and I couldn't put it down. I can already tell I'll be rereading it in the future. It's really good, is what I'm saying!
